one life among many

baby BaBY BABY!!
Are you ready to know? Goodness knows I was ready to know! I didn't get hardly any sleep last night thinking about it! I was mixed with fear that we were going to find something terribly wrong, and with excitement of finding out what it was gonna be!! We were about to find out one very important aspect of our child!
But, all is well. Baby is healthy, everything is the right size and shape and everything is in good working order. Hooray!!
Here she is!!
We have a bunch of pictures from the ultrasound, but this is the funnest one. The others are just feet and legs and head and stuff. We didn't get a very clear face shot. The one that we did get can see through her eyelid, so she looks like a creepy doll with no eyelids. So that's not going up, either. :)
Here's me right now, at 20 weeks! I took it with my phone, so it's not great quality. I'm trying really hard to show! :D
We love her already!! We are so excited to see her come February 1, 2013! It's gonna be fun times at the Hinman home! <3

another post!
For AM:
I am writing to tell you more about my life. :D
I have internet at my house!!! WIRELESS!!!
I just moved to a new apartment! It has a full-size fridge! And a full-size stove! It has TWO bedrooms! And carpet! Unfortunately, it also has spiders from time to time, as it is on the bottom floor. We have nice neighbors. And lots of closet space. Those two statements don't necesarily go together, but I'm grateful for both, is what I mean. Anyhow, we are operating the household of two sans couch. However, we are very blessed to have all other essential furniture. Including a pretty cool entertainment center I bought second hand. We are proud oweners of a new vacuum, though!! I love it! I also have a Ninja. That's a kind of blender.
At work I get to say lots of Spanish sentences to people that understand me. It's fun to do my work in Spanish. I really wish I could do that all the time. I sit on an exercise ball at work. I really like that. BUT! My friend who is an OSHA major told me that it is not actually good for my back, so I will not use it anymore. I will use a chair.
I will go to Girls' Camp this year as a leader! I am very excited. However, I am still serving in Relief Society. I like that a lot! But you know what?! I forgot to change the calendar to May! I don't have that ready, and it is already MAY! Wow. I cannot believe how May it is.
At the end of May, I will go to Arizona and California for a whirlwind of a baseball extravaganza. Douglas and his brother planned it. It will be a little over a week, in which we will visit 5 different cities and watch ball games in each of them.
More later! I love you, AM!!

everything eventually happens
I don't know if everything happens for a reason, or if it just happens. I've been thinking of that phrase a lot lately. See, I'm student teaching. At long last. I Time just keeps going forward whether you're with it or not. Everything eventually happens. Just hope you've made the most significant and important things happen. have finished three years of college to get to this point. I'm sure I went to my classes, but it seems to have gone by so quickly! I remember looking at my first MAP report (list of classes taken/still needed to graduate) and thinking that I will never get all "yes" (complete) next to all the subcategories. I have all "yes"s now and one "IP"--in progress.
I am teaching three class periods of Spanish 1 to mostly freshman. I have about half and half freshman/sophomores, actually. And a couple, three juniors and seniors. My supervising teacher is really great. She is very supportive and has all kinds of neat activities and things for me to look at and use for my students. It would almost be perfect if it weren't an hour away. Bleh. But luckily there is one other girl who is at Trigg County High School with me. She's a lot of fun and it's really nice to drive with someone else and be able to talk things through. I will keep teaching these three classes for the next couple of weeks, then add one more class for a week or so, then add the last one. I will eventually have all 5 classes all day every day. I am scared about that. I will be, in essence, the teacher. Wow!! I just hope that the kids will accept me after having the classroom teacher. I think I'm doing ok on the teaching part of things. It's just the housekeeping items that I don't keep up with very well: late homework, grading, etc. I'm sure that in time I will understand. :D
I'm also still interpreting for AVAZA Language Services . It's fun. I enjoy interpreting more than I enjoy teaching. Maybe it's just because I'm so darn proud of myself for being able to do it. I dunno. But sometimes interpreting is hard. Like when the Spanish speaker speaks in her own dialect, one that I'm not familiar with, at 200 wpm and I can't stop her to interpret. Or when the agency representative decideds that I'm not a good enough interpreter and wants a different one. Or if the Spanish speaker just gets fed up with repeating and hangs up. It doesn't come without its downfalls, but I'm sure I will grow a lot from it. I'm so excited that I got the job. I'm really grateful for the opportunity to work in this capacity. Who knows? Maybe I'll interpret instead of teach? Maybe I'll teach interpreting? Who knows? Who knows? I know that one of these days I will find out. Because everything eventually happens.

me, you, and everyone else
The average citizen, of any country, will never find out what is or has "really" happened in the government that cares for them. Furthermore, unless directly affected, the average citizen will die happily not caring. All kinds of unimaginable horrors have happened in this world, and regular people are the ones who carry it out against other regular people. All we can do as people is make sure that we are not the person carrying out any horrors against any other people.

11 stuffs I've learning from babysitting
This summer I got a short job watching three boys from 7-4:30 every week day for four weeks. They are 5, 7 and 9. Douglas and I were also asked to watch 3 more kids (1.5, 5 and 7) for 3 days while parents took a vacation to Nauvoo and the other kids spent the day with us. He and I stayed at their house and had them 24/24 hours of the day. We have a good time, but I've learned...
1. Children are very, very demanding.
2. You have no rights anymore, as they all belong to the children.
3. Some rights lost include: time alone, sitting, eating what you want, napping, your own agenda, being right, and watching the movie you want to watch.
4. Kids ask and ask and ask for things untill you finally say "Yes" just to add variation to your vocabulary.
5. There's no limit on number of spills available for clean up daily.
6. Spills can include juice, milk, water, crackers, toys, glass, too-hot food straight from the mouth, etc.
7. Don't let slightly potty trained young children laugh too much at the dinner table unless you want another flavor added to your food.
8. They may ask for more to eat, and throw a fit if you don't give it to them, but that doesn't actually mean they won't run from the table to play as soon as you turn your back.
9. Doors always seem to be the opposite of whatever you want them, open or closed.
10. Bath time should really be called a wet screaming contest.
11. Messes appear out of thin air, but the little magicians can't seem to reverse their magic.
It's been a fun summer since I got back from Chile!

a thinking thing

Is a time for thinking, playing, not thinking, growing, remembering, forgetting, getting sun burned, etc. It seems to be a more simple time, even though sometimes the summer is even more complicated. You know, summer romances, vacations (never seem to be relaxing, don't quite know why yet), and those sorts of things. I remember the summer before I turned 15. I, for the first time, felt my age. I felt 14 years old. I don't know what that means, really, but at the time I remember laying in bed one night and thinking about me. And I really felt 14. I dunno, I guess summer does crazy things to your head.
One thing is certain about any season though: it is what you make of it. Books and books and books have been written about that, proving or disproving that statement. People go to counseling and sit and hear that over and over, I'm sure. I know I've said it to friends, and it's been said to me. But I found proof today that it's true. What's more, it comes from the source of ultimate truth: Christ.
Really. Check out Luke 8:4-15. The parable of the sower.

Perhaps my findings are only an interpretation. Definitely, He is talking about how different people accept the word of God. But I would extend this to talk about anything: trials, blessings, all kinds of things. I want to be verse 15 for sure. That last word...
...one day.
